Starting a Family & Teaching Kids to Save
Off-Season Wedding Style
Weddings are expensive. (You knew that, but you might be surprised to learn that some venues charge more when they know services are for a wedding rather than some other type of event.) One way to cut your wedding costs leaving more money available for starting your new family is to plan your wedding for a weekday rather than a weekend. On average a Friday (for example) wedding will cost 10 to 20% less than a Saturday wedding. Venue charges, catering costs, and services like DJs, photographers, and even clergy or officiants tend to be cheaper since those professionals are in much less demand on "non-peak" days. If you want to have your wedding on a weekend, Sundays can also be somewhat less expensive, again due to demand.
Also consider getting married in late fall or early spring charges tend to be lower during those periods as well.
